The Ervay Theater, Dallas’s hottest new multi-use event center, in association with B_ENT Burton Entertainment ,invites you to A Night of Elegance, Class, Jazz, and more with the Rob Holbert Group and special guest the “Saxophone Diva” recording artist Joyce Spencer. Enjoy an elegant evening of music, dinner, and dancing in our newly remodeled Ervay Theater Event Center. Doors open at 7:30pm. Show starts at 8pm.
Joyce Spencer
Joyce Spencer is an award-winning saxophonist, flutist, and vocalist from Dallas, Texas, who covers the gamut of musical influence, style, and genre from traditional to contemporary jazz and classical to R&B, funk, fusion, blues, pop, and Gospel/Christian. The mixing and blending of musical styles in her upbringing are definitely her forte and an asset to writing music and entertainment. Whether it’s upbeat music, sultry smooth jazz, or ballads, Joyce provides sensational musical entertainment on saxophone (soprano, alto, and tenor), flute, and vocals that cater to the fans or venue.
She has graced the stage of many music festivals, concerts, church, and corporate events in the United States as a lead artist and with other artists/bands like Yarbrough & Peoples and Jazz in Pink, but radio stations are playing her music all over the world. She has been honored with awards and special recognition such as the GHP Radio Music Award Best Groove Sax, NAACP Music Award (Garland, TX), Black Women in Jazz Saxophonist of the Year, Sound Fusion Radio Song of the Week, Sassy Radio Top 20, Radio Indie Alliance Top 10, SmoothJazz.com top 30, Grammy consideration on a collaboration with David McLorren, and many others. Rob Holbert, saxophonist /vocalist has performed professionally for many years and has shared the stage with a cavalcade of stars. Opening for world-renowned acts such as The Average White Band and Jazz Pianist Alex Bugnon, he has also performed with, recorded with, or shared the stage with a vast and diverse number of performers such as Bobby Bland, Gospel Artist Tommye Young-West, Pieces of a Dream, Betty Wright, Doug E. Fresh, Red Young, Smooth Jazz Artist Althea Rene, Joe McBride, Benita Arteberry, Yarborough and Peoples, Jazz Educator Phil Wilson, former Tonight Show Drummer Ed Shaughnessy, The P Funk AllStars, Jazz pianist and vocalist Ronnie Foster, The Legendary Bernard Wright and Grammy Nominee Breggett Rideau just to name a few.
The Rob Holbert Group is well known for its delivery of Smooth Jazz, Standards, and Classics. Their variety of music and the sometimes eclectic arrangements of songs sets them apart from most other Jazz groups today. The group can also perform a variety of lively R&B covers and dance music that’s sure to make any event an exciting one!! The group has performed at numerous events throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area and beyond including The Oasis 107.5 After Work Escape, Sambuca Jazz Café, Brooklyn Jazz, SoHo Food and Jazz, Buttons Jazz Café, Buttons Restaurants, and The Dallas Museum of Art Concert Series. THE VENUE
The Ervay creates a sophisticated nightclub environment with an extravagant multi-level space perfect for night on the town. The expansive ceilings and lavish Art Deco décor pair great with performances from some of the premier ward-winning jazz artists in the world. Sit in a cushy front-row club chair or booth. Select a table anywhere in the building. There is not a bad seat in the house, or grab some crafted cocktails, enjoy our dinner buffet or VIP dinner service, listen to some great music, and even dance if you desire.
