Celebrating the Music of Teena Marie
The Ervay Theater, Dallas’s hottest new multi-use event center, in association with DFW Live Events ,invites you to THE TEENA MARIE EXPERIENCE 2023. Do you love the soulful sounds of Teena Marie, the legendary singer-songwriter who dazzled the world with her powerful vocals and eclectic style? Do you want to relive her greatest hits, such as “Lovergirl”, “Ooo La La La”, and “I’m a Sucker for Your Love”? Then you don’t want to miss the Teena Marie Experience, a spectacular tribute show featuring the talented Ceci Jones and Curt Jones!. Step back in time with the music of several of your favorite artists. Great music, dinner, and dancing in the newly remodeled Ervay Theater Event Center. Doors open at 7:30pm. Show starts at 8pm.
Ceci Jones
Ceci Jones is a rising star in the R&B scene, with a voice that can melt your heart and make you dance. She has been praised by critics and fans alike for her authentic and passionate rendition of Teena Marie’s songs. Ceci Jones will take you on a musical journey through Teena Marie’s career, from her early days with Motown to her later success with Epic and Stax Records.
Ceci is an energetic, exciting and strong Lead and background vocalist with over 30 years of experience in various genres of music, a variety of Latin music, Jazz, R&B, Funk, Soul, Gospel, Blues and just about anything you throw at her, SHE CAN BLOW!
Ceci was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico, and raised in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area around a family of musicians and talented vocalists. Her father was influential in the direction she took in music and began to coach her to sing at the age of 10, then soon performing professionally in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area by the age of 16. Ceci talks about her new music saying, “Each track has something special vocally, melodically and musically that will “take you there”. Wherever “there” is, you will find yourself reminiscing something about a love you have or once had and have you feeling “some kind of way” This is “grown folk’s music for the most part” but for those younger listeners with “Old Souls” and a romantic heart, this is also for you and I am excited to share my journey with you!”
Curt Jones
In the 1980s – Curt Co-founded with Steve Washington and Collaborated on the funky and diversified R&B grooves led by Salsoul Records’ group – Aurra, with the powerful and dynamic vocalist, Starleana Young and a host of talented musicians from the Slave family, producing Hits “Are You Single & Make Up Your Mind” and many more.
Late 1980s – Aurra became Deja, delivering the #1 Billboard® R&B/Top 10 British Pop chart hit, “You & Me Tonight”. In addition, the album also reached the Top 20 plateau on Billboard®’s R&B album charts. Deja’s final album was Made To Be Together. Starleana went solo and was replaced by Mysti Day, of Houston, TX. This album was produced by Teddy Riley, and also scored tremendously in the Top 20 on Billboard®’s R&B charts. Remarkably, Deja registered eight Top 20 R&B singles from 1985-1990, with significant international success.
THE VENUE
The Ervay creates a sophisticated nightclub environment with an extravagant multi-level space perfect for night on the town. The expansive ceilings and lavish Art Deco décor pair great with performances from some of the premier ward-winning jazz artists in the world. Sit in a cushy front-row club chair or booth. Select a table anywhere in the building. There is not a bad seat in the house, or grab some crafted cocktails, enjoy our dinner buffet or VIP dinner service, listen to some great music, and even dance if you desire.
